Did the power of positive thinking heal me?

I want to clear up any misconception that my healing from cancer was simply because of mind control or the power of positive thinking.

Firstly, according to my oncologist, I am the only person on earth who has been healed of Stage IV HER2 cancer. Logically there were believers in mind control and positive thinking in that worldwide group of sufferers who weren’t healed.

Secondly, as I pointed out very early on in my book, being saved from sin and death is of far more consequence and significance than being healed of a physical disease. My focus has been and will always be on Jesus bringing you back into relationship with God.

Thirdly, I spotlight communion and intimacy with God from whom all healing comes. At no stage did I ever place any weight on my own personal positive thoughts but called on God in prayer, personally, communally and globally for my healing. It is absurd to think the God of the universe can be controlled by positive affirmations.

Being healed by the power of the mind is a lie that goes all the way back to Eden where the serpent asked Eve, ‘Did God REALLY say that you would die if you ate this fruit?’ If Satan can convince you that you aren’t sick, then he can convince you that your sickness was an illusion and you are healed merely by affirming positive statements. Whilst Satan does have incredible power and can do some extraordinary things, he can’t create and resurrect, and it’s only a matter of time before his mask will fall off and you see his hideous ugliness underneath.

I’ve heard it said that the mind can control everything in the universe. Such a philosophy that casts aspersions on the character of God and doesn’t bring glory to Jesus is of Satan. Involvement in Satan’s witchcraft has a huge price to pay, whether in this life or the next.

Jesus has given us the supremacy over all the power of the Enemy, the Father of all lies (John 8:44). “I have given you authority, so that you can walk on snakes and scorpions and overcome all the power of the Enemy, and NOTHING will hurt you” (Luke 10:19 GNB). Stand fast in your authority in Jesus and exert it over all the snakes and serpents that Satan oppresses you with and realise the full potential that God has purposed for you.

Don’t be deceived by the lies that this world continually offers you. Turn only to Jesus for your strength – the Source of your redemption and healing. Seek the Giver before any of His gifts.

“Give yourself to the LORD; trust in Him and He will help you” (Psa. 37:5 GNB).
