As I was driving my car yesterday I noticed plastic tied strategically to posts along my route. Twenty years ago it used to be cassette tapes but the witches of today are now adding their curses to pieces of plastic. Yes—black magic is being practised all around us and it is affecting Christians, badly.
I was once sent an email, which, by engaging with the symbols in it, invoked curses on the recipient.
But even more, witchcraft is present everywhere in the form of fortune telling and spirit healing -- the so called white magic. There was a good reason that Israel was commanded by God: “Do not let your people practise fortune-telling, or use sorcery, or interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft, or cast spells, or function as mediums or psychics, or call forth the spirits of the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord. It is because the other nations have done these detestable things that the Lord your God will drive them out ahead of you. But you must be blameless before the Lord your God” (Deut. 18:10-13 NLT).
If Christians want to assert their authority over the devil, they need to be aware of the devil’s tricks and the way he gets his power into our homes through television or occult images and ornaments.
Christians need to be aware of what satan’s followers are doing and pray against their activities.
Anyone who has been involved in witchcraft needs deliverance, not forgiveness. They have been bound by a demon when they allow their minds to travel into his realm and they need faithful Christians to help them to renounce their associations with the demonic things and to take the unclean things from their homes and burn them.
Jesus has promised that whatever we “bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever (we) loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” (Matt. 18:18 NIV). Get rid of anything in your life that is from the evil realm, immoral practises or demonic objects, and start asserting that authority you have in Jesus.
