Where are you going?

I love the story that Billy Graham recounted not long before he died. He related the anecdote about Albert Einstein travelling on a train and being unable to locate his train ticket when asked by a ticket inspector. The inspector reassured Albert that he knew who he was and a ticket wasn’t necessary.

The inspector moved on but noticed that Albert was continuing to search frantically for the lost ticket so the inspector returned to him to tell him that presenting the ticket didn’t matter. Albert replied that he needed the ticket to know where he was going!

Billy Graham said that, unlike Einstein, he knew where he was going. He had full assurance that on his death he would immediately be with Jesus.

We are all on a train heading to eternity. Some have a short journey and others a long and winding journey but the destination remains the same – heaven or hell.

You choose today which destination you want to reach by asking Jesus into your life. Jesus said He is the only way to heaven:

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).

With a genuine profession of your faith and confession of your sin you are assured of your salvation for it is written: “For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved” (Rom 10:10). Your ticket’s destination will be heaven!

If you have never accepted Jesus into your life, pray with me today:

Lord Jesus. I believe you are the Son of God who died and rose from the dead and went to heaven. I believe you died for my sins. Thank you for forgiving me and making me a part of your family so I can be with you forever someday. Fill me with your Holy Spirit and love.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
